Played with saved states, I liked it a lot better. And this is a great point to make about retro games that used to be unplayable without a Game Genie/GameShark or cheat codes - you can now play them and enjoy them as if those flaws aren't present because you can overcome their more frustrating moments.
I'd say Dr. Chaos is no harder than the Ultra TMNT NES game, but twice as frustrating because it doesn't have a good theme to carry it.
